David Feuerstein

As a Clinical Social Worker, David spent his entire career working to better the lives of NYC’s high-risk children and families.

As a senior consultant and program evaluator for NYC’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, he served as a resource to providers of Early Intervention services throughout NYC, providing program evaluation, policy review, staff training and technical assistance. David also worked for several private agencies in New York City directing programs that provided services to crime victims, starting support groups for children and teens, working to keep children out of the foster care system and to reunite families that have been separated.
David served as the Unit Coordinator for Victim Services/Safe Horizon providing crisis counseling to victims of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse and sexual violence working directly with both victims and the police and medical professionals to facilitate a smooth and compassionate process for all involved.

As Ritual Director of his Synagogue, Congregation Habonim, David facilitated that congregation’s complex theological shift from Reform to Conservative affiliation. David earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mercy College and a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiller School of Social Work. David also earned a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Brooklyn Institute for Psychotherapy and
Psychoanalysis.

David and his wife, Laurie, live in Manhattan and are the proud parents of Marty, a data analyst, and Gabriel, a graduate student in public health.
